The Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) is a point-based visa implemented to select skilled people across the world based on the requirements in different states of Australia It allows International Skilled workers to move and live in Australia without the need of having a sponsorship by an Australian employer, a state or territory, or a family member. This is a permanent visa and allows visa-holders to remain in Australia indefinitely with full work rights.

Subclass 189 Eligibility Criteria:

  • You age must be below 45 years, to apply for this visa
  • You must have an experience in a nominated occupation from Skilled Occupation List
  • You must have proficient in at least competent English
  • You must score minimum 65 points specified in your visa application
  • You must have Skill assessed by the relevant assessing authority
  • You must meet the health and character requirements

English Language Ability:

  • At least 50 in each of four test components in Pearson Test of English (PTE)
  • At least 6 in each of four test components in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Or Equivalent Score in TOFEL iBT, OET & CAE

Eligible Family Members:

  • Primary Applicant Spouse or partner
  • Primary Applicant child or their partner's child

Health & Character Requirements:

  • You must show medical examinations of undergoing within past 12 months of time period
  • You must Police certificates from each country you lived in for 12 consecutive months
